Embracing the Struggle - Dr. Linda Martin (aka The Lorax of Safety) will talk about how to "roll with the punches" when it comes to building a winning workplace safety culture at your site or facility.
To be an effective safety leader you have to be able to "stick and move", making sure to constantly think of how to add new ideas and tactics to your leadership and safety management arsenal to excite others to be involved, engaged, and empowered to take their safety skill set to the next level.
Can your safety leadership go the distance? When you are on the ropes, who inspires you to get back in there and do your best to move individual and collective safety decision making in the right direction?
Go toe to toe with Dr. Linda Martin in a session that is sure to take your safety program from being a "fringe contender" to a champion!
WISE Up- Knowing and Owning the Ring - We all will step into a "ring" in life, but how we perform in it is up to us.
The battles relentlessly come in different forms or fashions. From busyness, to unexpected commitments, to what we face at home, work, and play, and how we show up can make or break us.
In this discussion, Emily will talk about how to not only step up but step in to "the ring" with confidence. She will discuss the power of self-awareness in "the ring" as well as knowing who's in your corner to help you WISE up and take action for whatever life may throw at you.
Emily is dedicated to helping people understand how
and why people do what they do so they can better show up, wise up, and perform at their top potential.
Tales of the Tape: In this discussion we will take a deep dive into the “sucks” of professional safety. We will explore the underlying beliefs that organizations, industries and safety professionals hold about safety, how these beliefs impact the role of the practitioner, and how safety and the practitioner are "measured".
We will discuss how those responsible for safety can understand what must be measured to have a true 'tale of the tape' and ensure a more impactful role.
According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, Hispanic and Latino workers make approximately 25% of the workforce and sustain approximately 20% of fatal injuries in the construction industry. Employers who successfully engage their Latino and Hispanic workers have demonstrated a significant reduction in injuries not just to that demographic, but to all workers.
This panel will explore several strategies used by a number of safety professionals from companies with a statistically high number of Hispanic and Latino workers, how those strategies have helped develop and grow their safety culture and the overall benefits this increased engagement has brought to their entire company.
